The Hyphen class just returned from a life changing weekend at the sectional Hyphen retreat. We were blessed by a powerful move of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of Bro. Scott Shelton. The presence of God was so tangible that the evening devotions lasted well into the night. One of the most profound things we were able to take away from this weekend was the power and importance of consistent prayer.

We were challenged to remember Ephesians 6:12, which says,

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

There are two obvious and immediate truths that are implied by this particular scripture. First, the enemy of our souls cannot be fought with any weapon in this world, because our enemy IS NOT of this world. Second, if we as Christians believe that our adversary is weak and powerless then we are fooling ourselves.

In fact, I Peter 5:8 warns us that the devil, “…as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” These scriptures shouldn’t scare us, but act as a reminder that a consistent, powerful, and sincere prayer life is essential for any Christian.

Prayer is what our world needs at this dark and pivotal time in our world. Prayer is the key to moving heaven and shaking hell.

Prayer truly is the answer.
